Is there supposed to be a cover under the dash above the gas pedal on a 2017 CX-5?

I bought the car yesterday and it was CPO from the dealer so I didn't look under the dash. Today while under the dash it looked unfinished. Am I missing a cover or is this is the way it comes from factory? Thanks

 

I just found someone in the parking lot and looked under his. It's the same. I'm surprised Mazda didn't add a plastic piece under there.

 

Same for Euro 2019 CX5.
