Default 2016 CX-5 battery Corrosion problems

Hey there! I’m looking for information on fixing my girlfriend’s 2016 CX-5 Grand Touring. Since before I met her, she’s had concerns with the servicing dealer about battery corrosion for a couple of years, they’ve replaced the battery before. Yesterday, she mentioned it again and the dealer checked it out, told her the corrosion had spread into the wires and it would be 3K for a new wiring harness or buy another vehicle. I didn’t get there in time to talk to the mechanic but I can’t imagine corrosion doing that much. I’m HVAC by trade and would think I could replace the battery connector, starter wire and then cut and splice any other corroded wires. I use heat shrink solder connectors for these kinds of repairs at work. Any advice or specifics before I start?
