If that is the basis for a class action against Ford, I could easily say the same for Mazda's current system.

On a related note...I recently bought a 2014 Escape with MyFord Touch. It performs flawlessly. I've been using it with iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 as well as testing with an iPad. No issues with either bluetooth or USB connection. The USB issue in CX-5 was the #1 reason I bought Ford over Mazda. Listen-up Mazda. You not only lost my business over this, but you will also lose my Mother's business as she is making the same purchase decision.

And notice that the unit fails to remember the shuffle setting! You have to do this each and every time.

It's a shame about the BT/shuffle issues. Worse about Mazda's attitude. I contacted customer support when I first took delivery on my '14 CX-5 GT, and they politely told me that it was "operating as designed" (as they did with several other Entertainment System issues). I guess none of their audio designers ever heard of an audio book. They all return to Chapter 1 when I restart the car. Useless. Back to the old auxiliary cable for that.

If I don't buy another Mazda, it'll be more about the company's attitude about sales and customer service than the car itself. So far it's been a disappointment overall.

How do you like the rest of the Escape? Which trim level did you purchase? I rented a 1.6 with MyFord Touch and the panoramic sunroof. I liked it a lot. I probably would say the steering on the CX-5 was better, although oddly, I felt more comfortable taking round-abouts and exit ramps at higher speeds with the Escape. Maybe it is the corner control. Really considering trading my CX-5 for a 2014 Titanium, or a remaining 13 if I get a good deal. Probably a good waste of money on my part.

Default Audio Problems

I wish I had done more research about the audio problems before I bought my 2014 Touring CX-5 about a month ago. The salesman played dumb about the iPod problem when I brought it up (after the purchase ) but surely must have known about it. The car is otherwise nice but these issues are really irritating. My thinking is that every feature should work flawlessly as stated in the owners manual. Period. No excuses. I experienced all these same issues with my iPod/USB interface at first. I eventually got past the iPod error message, and then got it to actually play the song that was being displayed on the screen and then could navigate from artist to artist or song to song without the system getting totally lost. I never could get playlists to work though. But then everything in the audio system stopped working altogether except for AM and FM radio. All other features are grayed out on screen and not functioning at all. That's where I'm at right now. The car is at the dealer service department as I type this. I would be totally on board with a class action lawsuit over this. Any lawyers out there reading this? I cannot recommend Mazda because of these problems and will probably not buy another in the future. And you can bet I'm telling my friends about this. When you spend this much money on a new vehicle, everything about it needs to work properly. Anything otherwise is unacceptable!

I have the same vehicle FirstTime and it is extremely frustrating. I really don't see myself buying another mazda after this. The audio system in general is poor butt the IPOD issue is the kicker. Which idiot signed off on this at Mazda? Who thought this was a good system?

I am having the same issues with the head unit on my 2014 CX-5 GT with my iPhone 5 as well as my wife's iPhone 5 and my sons iPhone 4. I worked for Mazda Corporate for 8 years until June of this year. I moved out of state due to a relocation for my wife's job. I've driven multiple Mazda's with many different trim levels and purchased my 2014 CX-5 with my employee discount before I left. I can honestly say that the head unit on the 2014 CX-5 GT (nav) is by far the worst that I have experienced in any of my Mazda vehicles in the past 8 years. It's buggy, it's slow, and the voice control on the nav makes me want to rip it all out and toss it out the window going 90mph.

With Bluetooth I don't seem to have any issues connecting to the phone or answering or making phone calls. The only issues I have here is that there is no repeat or shuffle. These are pretty basic features that seem to work in other vehicles using Bluetooth.

I rarely use the USB option with my iPhone since it takes 5 minutes to read the iPhone and waiting that long isn't worth the time since it has to read all over again when I start the car the next time. USB is only valuable on long road trips when the care will be on for a while. My wife's iPhone 5 reads faster than mine but she only has about 450 songs. I have about 3,000 songs on my iPhone 5. I'm sure this has something to do with the long read times but still this is unacceptable. We have rented cars when we travel that read instantly. I don't know if this is an iPhone only issue with the 2014 CX-5 system or what but it's horrible.

My father in law just bought a 2014 CX-5 GT and he also has the same issues with his head unit. My only other complaint with my CX-5 is the vibration of the hood when freeway driving. Depending on the wind outside and the speed I'm driving, the hood looks as if its going to pop off at any moment. There is a lot of movement going on there with that hood!

Sorry for the rant. I just wanted to chime in.
