2014 MAZDA CX5 -Audio and IPOD
Subscribing in hopes a miracle happens and they fix this horrible issue. Have had my 2015 CX5 for a month. Thought I bought all the bells and whistles and could deal with the slow loading ipod issue. What I can't deal with is the craptacular bluetooth not understanding a word I say, the bluetooth needing to be reset to my phone every 2 weeks and now the "ipod error." So discouraging because otherwise it's a great car.
Update on 2014 Mazda 6 w/Infotainment System. I'm taking my car to the Roswell, GA Mazda dealer to get the replacement BT/USB unit installed. After trading messages w/a few executives at Mazda NA over the last 7 months, they followed thru on their promise to provide me with a new unit as soon as their testing was completed. I'll post details tomorrow on how the unit responds w/my iPod touch (load time, resume after car is started, etc). Fingers crossed they fixed the issue.
Hello everyone. I am happy to report that I'm back from my Mazda dealer here in Roswell, GA, where they installed new hardware for the BT/USB in my 2014 M6 w/Infotainment. Thus far, my tests show the issues being resolved w/the new hardware.
Here's how I tested. 60gb iPod touch, with about 40 gb of music loaded on it. Connected via USB. 1st time load took about 39 seconds to start playing the 1st song alphabetically listed on the iPod. Then took about 3-5 minutes for the entire iPod to load to the vehicle, where I could start changing songs/artists/albums. Shut the car down for 5 minutes, started back up - resumed w/in probably 10 seconds of starting the car at the same point in the song as when i shut it off. While the car was running I unplugged the iPod for 2-3 minutes, connected it back up in less than 10 seconds it resumed on where I had left off. Scrolling up/down the list of albums/artists seems to be much quicker as well.
Next test will be my 160gb classic iPod. Will post results from that later today. If there are any other test you folks would like me to run, let me know. **Update - Took 47 seconds to load 150gb of music on iPod classic**. Big win for all of us w/this issue.
There is hope! I am beyond happy w/the results of this new hardware. The car now seems complete.

I too reside here in GA, I am awaiting a call back now from my dealer here in Gainesville (they seemed to not have a clue) to let me know if they have information on this repair. Was it actually a new hardware replacement or a firmware update? Also, how long did it take them to make the repair?
I own a 2014 CX-5 with these iPod issues. Is this promising fix available to all who request it or is Mazda going to do a recall or some sort of notification to owners of this horrendous infotainment system? Just wondering what course of action I should take.

The dealer for my wife's '14 CX-5 had us contact Mazda customer service, and made us responsible to work thru the problem w/ Mazda.

This car drives like a dream and I bought it because long-time friends have sworn by their mazdas. When people compliment the car now, though, I tell them not to buy one because the company has been nonresponsive to a widely-recognized problem.
I would love to change my tune. Of course, now I am completely tuneless.
No ipod, no bluetooth. The radio? Oh, yeah, the same thing my parents had in their 1964 Chrysler station wagon. I do have that.
Heading in on Monday to ask for the 2014 Christmas miracle.

Hi, I just got my CX5 on 22nd Dec, and to my disappointment, the USB/iPod is not resuming the last song. Reading your post here, I hope Mazda Indonesia will do the same for my audio. After I complained to Mazda general manager, I was told to bring my car to the workshop for 'resetting' the audio on the 5th Jan 2015. I was half hoping here because that non-resume song is starting to frustrate me. I told the GM of Mazda Indonesia that this USB non-resume apparently not only happened to us, but the whole world. And she said, so far no customers complained and customers don't like music, that's why.. Lame answer, I guessed.
Anyway, would you please let us know what had been done to your audio? What new hardware? So I can tell the engineer what I 'know' in case they just try touching the screen here and there without results. From what I read in Mazda CX5 Community Forum, most of the workshops technicians/engineers don't know what they are doing, in other words, they just busied their fingers with all the menus on the audio without success. Even after I told the GM that I read it here or maybe somewhere (I've been googling a lot of this matter too many times to find a solution), Mazda UK already found the solution for the non-resuming problem, change the hardware module.
All over, my car is superb, if I may say so. The only problem is the non-resuming that really gets me. It's almost like brainwashing if you kept hearing the same thing over and over again every time you start the car. That's what I feel, anyway.. and now I hate that song already. I'm not a radio listener when driving, too many ads from the station. Bluetooth is functioning beautifully. I don't have any complaint for the rest of the car. Except the USB thing. SIGH..
