i agree as well which is why i passed on that approach...armrest 12v stays powered when the car is off

You totally missed the point and correct information on how- to and first check before assuming anything when working on especially adding or for that matter working around a vehicle electrical system.
The problems generally don't always instantly happen. And you obliviously either avoided or could answer some of my comments in a blanket informational response?

But please don't try now I will only have to continue to respond about a proper, SAFE or at least a consideration to doing something correctly.
let's just rest at you did it your way! On your Mazda (or your other vehicles)!
