CX30. Data Communication Module (DCM) failure – has anyone experie
Hi everyone,
I own a Mazda CX-30 Skyactiv-X, always serviced at an official Mazda dealer in Spain.
Recently, the Data Communication Module (DCM) failed, even though I’ve never used any of the connected services (MyMazda app, remote functions, etc.). The dealer quoted €1,650 for replacement.
This seems like a premature failure of an electronic component that should last the lifetime of the vehicle, especially since it hasn’t been used.
I’ve already filed a formal complaint with Mazda Spain, asking them to cover the full cost.
Has anyone here had a similar issue with the DCM or eCall system on the CX-30? Any advice or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Juan Antonio. Madrid (Spain)

If you DCM is in fact failing, then you need to get it changed ASAP.
No they do not last whatever you define as a lifetime. While the failure of any electrical part is within the first approx. 8 hours of operation after which they will go the intended and engineered life expectancy. But there are NO specification for a BCM or CCM or DCM ion what that represents? The problem with any electrical part it there is no way to calculate the lifetime period because of way to many variables like operating environment being the number one influence.
Based on your miles and the year you are out of WARRANTY and Mazda will not likely warranty the part. The only exception may be if there was a SAFTY recall on your Mazda. But then you would have had it already taken care of by Mazda or your vehicle would not have been able to register it.
My advice if contact an well reviewed and recommend service shop in your country that can replace it and ret the operating perimeters as per Mazda service replacement guides. And be sure the shop uses the MAZDA service guides for that R&R or you could be out more than one DCM replacement. The better choice for a DCM is having Mazda service it and that way you get a better warranty both part and service.
This is not a DIY part replacement for anyone if they are asking about it then they don't have the experience and knowledge to correctly do the service.
Get and carry a bottle of Rain-x just in case the DCM fails to power your wipers.

Have already contacted an Official Mazda Service.
If you purchase your Mazda from a Mazda dealer, they will also have your VIN service history which you should be able to find any Safety recalls, TSBs and history of service through Mazda dealerships.
If you purchased it from a private party or used car dealer then I would not delay as I said Mazda is highly unlikely to warranty the part without an active SAFTEY recall. And a dealer will not because they will not get reimbursed from Mazda crop.
I do Mazda warranty service from time to time and know what Mazda corp will and will not cover..
