First post.

The wife wanted something new and picked out the CX30 after doing a lot of searching and test driving. She has owned an RX8 and Miata previously.

She gravitated to the CX30 because she wanted her new ride to have as many safety features as possible. She compared the CX30 to the new Kia Sortos. The Sortos has better rear leg room, but that is not important to us since the mother-in-law would be the one riding in the back so I don't care how uncomfortable she is! Rear air was a requirement for the doggie though!

She had a lot of difficulty locating the exact one she wanted with the exact colors and package. Finally found one only because it did not appear on the dealer's inventory and she accidentally stumbled upon it in the Mazda inventory system. Even the dealer did not know they had it! She went right over and bought it immediately. Stealerships here in Florida are notorious and want over sticker with about $1k in stealership fees too. That why I hate buying cars. They love to torture their customers here. She was there for over 6 hours and she walked in knowing the exact car she was going to buy!

We think it is a very good value. It has a lot of feature that are not even on much more expensive SUVs. It is not perfect, but what car is. The most annoying thing is the STUPID joystick instead of using a touch screen. Very hard to use the STUPID joystick for Android Auto and Waze compared to a touch screen that it was designed for. Other annoyance to me is that the engine is a bit lethargic. But I drive big engine American iron so what do I know. The ride is very, very nice compared to other compatible vehicles we test drove. Those are my thoughts after 1 day of ownership.

I am going to install the Homelink mirror and some kind of Qi charger.

We were looking at the rear end parking sensors. Has anyone installed those? How well do they work?

I know where you are coming from. My advice to young people is to marry an orphan. Ironically, the power in the CX-30 is significantly more than the competition in the segment.

I also understand the frustration with the lack of a touch screen. I find the Mazda GPS system bearable to use with the stupid controller, but Waze is nearly impossible to manage. It may work better to put the phone in a holder and use that to control the screen. (I have heard that the top of the stupid controller may actually be a touchpad. I will be looking into the possibility of activating it. Don't tell anyone.)

Which trim level did you get. I believe the Rear Cross Traffic Alert comes on all but the base level. I have been happy with them on my 19 Mazda3. They seldom go off, unlike other vehicles were they seem to go off when a bug is in the area.

Enjoy your new Mazda. It should be a great car for you and your wife for the long-term.

Interesting to hear rear parking sensors aren't standard. All Mazda passenger vehicles in my market come standard from the factory with rear park sensors.

I thought it was VERY odd that there are no front sensors available at all, even as an option. What is even odder, here is an offical Mazda manual that show front sensors on the CX-30. Maybe this is available outside of the US?

https://www.mazdausa.com/static/manu.../05200100.html

Since my new threads with questions seem to disappear, I will try this route. Anyone install the rear parking sensors option? Are they well integrated in to the Mazda system or they act like some aftermarket junk? Are they easy to install? Self install or Dealer installed?

The other option I would be really hot to add if it were possible is folding mirrors. Every single inch of my garage is full of stuff and it is really tight to pull in.

I just purchased my new 2020 CX-30 in white. I live in Canada, and i have the GT trim - that is the top trim offered here, so unsure of its USA counterpart but likely same as top trim (leather seats, heads up display, etc.)

Loving it so far. I came from a 2018 Mazda 3 Sport with "almost" top trim - and I loved that car. The CX-30 is quiter and so much smoother - yet still very fun to drive. The additional features are fantastic too.

Congratulations. The CX-30 should be a great vehicle. Halfway between a Mazda3 with its great driving dynamics and the CX-5 with its space. Enjoy it.

I ended up getting the CX-30 - 2.5L AWD - No cylinder deactivation. I wanted the 3 Hatchback, but they all have the CD and I didn't want to chance it. I was going for either white, which really accentuates the plastic cladding, or the gray which hides it. I've had several Mazdas over the years (14 & 15 3's) so hopefully this one will be just as reliable.

As soon as I drove it off the lot, with 30 miles on it, I took it on the highway and put it into manual mode. From there I gave it several 80% throttle runs in 4th/5th gear up to 4k rpms and let it engine break. I also did one full WOT, which was actually by mistake. I now have 71 miles on it and will drive it normally the next few hundred miles.

It rained most of the day so I was able to test the AWD. Works extremely well. The 6spd trans is very precise.

Nice looking Mazda. The grey and black look great together. I hope you like it as much at 70,000 miles as you do at 70.

I'm really disappointed by direction where car industry is going last 10-12y, with smaller and smaller boot space but with larger cars..
Its a damn shame that my mazda2 has same both space as new mazda 6..
I bought cx5 (14)only because all other cars are so cramped inside. like wtf? I don't wanna sport car both (cramped) space in my Suv
