OK, i went ahead and adjusted the valves on my b2000 truck to spec, .08 intake and .12 exhaust.

Well, they tick louder then before, but it runs better and seems to idle smoother. How can I quite down those valves??

It sounds like you need to replace thehydrolic lash adjusters. I did mine about two weeks ago and itruns as quiet as could be.
