Hi Guys,
Im having a real problem with the tail gate handles breaking on my 93 B2600. I already replaced it three times this year. They always seem to break a the same spot, where the plastic part of the handle hits the metal lever. Overall my tailgate seems to be ajusted very well and I dont have to pull hard on the handle when I open it. So I was just wondering are there handles available that are made completely out of metal, I did a search on the internet and couldnt find anything except aftermarket plastic handles that seem to alway break.

You sould buy the chrome one that is metal instead of plastic and lube the hinges inside the tailgate, you could find them cheap at ebay...

 

Stop by any NAPA store and have them look it up....

or use this number at any NAPA auto parts store....

They seem to be made entirely of metal. So there shouldn't be any plastic peices to break.

BTW I work for NAPA (at an independant store), so I usually have the Parts, Supplies and Accesories (PSA) catalog at my home PC with me. So if you need something looked up, just let me know.

I cannot look up starters, alternators or "hard parts" due to the fact that I don't keep those catalogs with me (that would mean hauling the entire store with me). for those things go to www.napaonline.com

You might want to pull the tail gate cover off. I took mine off and found the handle mechanism was bent. I don't know if the new handle comes with the part I found that was bend, since I never replaced mine. But here's a link:
