Mazda 4wd problems please help :)
RFW lock light problems.
Hi! I have a Mazda 2600 1990 with manual transmission. When I put in 4WD the control “lock lamp” that should be lighting when the free wheels are locked are not always coming on? What could it be? What system does it have that checks if the free wheels are locked or not? Is it electric and where is components located that I should look for? Like a sensor or something? Sometimes it comes on after a while sometimes not at all and sometimes right when I put it in 4WD (no matter if I drive extremely slowly forward at first). One time when I put it in 4WD it didn’t light so I switched back to 2wd but forgot to click the RFW lamp as I should. Then it came on after driving for some minutes also…Excuse my English I’m writing in a hurry right know, but let me know if you need any more information

Welcome. It may be the Remote Free Wheel Switch itself (on the dash), not making the contact inside of it. It may be that the vacuum lines at the front differential are leaking, or the vacuum diaphragm is losing vacuum, or the dirt that has accumulated around the front differential mechanisms is hindering the operation of them. If you can obtain a factory service manual, there are troubleshooting guides in there to help you fix the issue.
