recently came into ownership of a 02 b3000 3.0v6 with some issues has a extreme loss of power has a hiccup when pressing the gas horrible fuel milage spark plugs read running really rich and where way over gapped have been replaced it I can't take it on the highway because it won't go over 55 mph it only has 115k on the motor if I give it throttle under load when it down shifts sounds like its going to blow up and when I first start it in the morning it revs up to almost 3000 rpm and sits there for a solid 3o to 45 sec then will drop back down and run fine till it gets up to temp thats when all the fun starts once its at running temp it can't be driven long as the longer its driven while the issues are apparent they gradually get worse exhaust will spit black stuff out but never smokes replaced the crank position sensor with no affect I used to have a Nissan frontier that I had to replace the distributor along with the crank position sensor is it the same possibly im at a loss now any insite would be awesome thanks

 

Have you had it scanned for fault codes?

 

my father in law scanned it he's the one told me it needed crank position sensor changed said he cleared the code after scan but I personally have not been able to yet thats set for tomorrow

 

so scanned the codes today and im getting maf low circut code running rich on both banks and a code for vid something about ecm corruption or reprograming and a misfire in cylinder 2

 

The scan was not done correctly and clearing the DTC only turned off the check engine light on the dash
