Default Couple of questions

Hi, everyone!

I'm new to the boards. I have a couple of small questions.

First of all, my parking brake cable broke on my 1993 b2200, this means I have since been unable to use the parking brake. Fortunatly, it seems as though my head lights still turn off when I pull the handle. I am trying to order some parts online and I cant figure out why there are so many parking brake cables: one for the front, one for rear left and one for rear right. Which one do I need?

Second of all, I need a cable for my hood latch because it has broken too. I can't seem to find the hood latch cable though. Anyone know if it goes under a different name, if it has any substitute or anything?

Third, is it a good idea to order parts online instead of having the body shop order them? I live in Canada and I think I may try to order multiple parts from www.carjunky.com.

Fourth, I have passed the 100 000 Km and I have read that it's a good idea to change the timing belt. Is this really needed fast or can it wait?

Default RE: Couple of questions

First thing, the parking brake only holds the rear brakes. The reason for the three cables is there is one for each rear wheel and one that connects to the handle inside the truck. There is a "Y" in between front and rear cables so that the main cable will pull two rear cables.

The hood release cable you need is available at our vendor, onlinemazdaparts.com for $21.84 US. It is under body parts. Here is the LINK to it.

I have had no problems ordering parts online myself.

I would consider replacing the timing belt if you can get it done. If it breaks you will be stranded. You can wait and get more mileage out of it, but its a gamble. Being as winter is coming on and living in Canada I'm sure it gets cold up there, and would hate to have a dead vehicle on the road!
