Default All heat, all the time

Preface: My AC only works in Max AC. Every other setting gets me full heat.

I posted in my intital thread that the research I'd done let me to believe my truck's temperature selector **** was attached to the air blend door by a cable; NOT so.

I removed the center cover panel and there isn't a cable. My truck's temperature selector **** has wires attached that disappear into the dash... somewhere. So, the **** is a rheostat/potentiometer I'm guessing. All of the vacuum actuators appear to be working normally (feel test - select defrost, air blows from defroster ducts, etc).

Has anyone solved this 'all heat' type problem recently that can relate a fix. Replace the ****? Replace the water valve? Actuator somewhere?

Thanks for reading.

Ah... I found the culprit and the fix over on a Ford Explorer site. HVAC air blend door ... Seems this is an uber-common problem - 30 + pages of threads. Not a simple fix, but at least there is a fix.
