Default 90 B2600 Runs for 60 seconds ...dies!

My Mazda B2600 Will start and run for about 30-60 seconds and then will stop as if it has run out of gas. At that point, it will not start again for several hours. At which time it will again run for 30-60 seconds before stalling.
I installed a new fuel filter, the one that is mounted on the firewall. It has a new computer. And the fuel tank is about 3/4 full of fuel. The Clymer and Chilton manuals are too vague to help. Is there a fuel pressure regulator, or another fuel filter somewhere? A local mechanic said that I should replace the fuel cap and the O2 Sensor????
I'd appreciate your help!

there should be a filter on the frame rail right below the gas cap
