Default 83 diesel sitting 13 years

This was my Dad's 1983 Mazda B2200 with a Perkins diesel engine. I put a new battery in it and a fuel filter. I got a gallon can of fresh fuel and pumped it up and purged it to the fuel pump. Started right up. You can hear me shifting it into neutral, turning the switch, hear the glow plug switch time out then start right up.
They don't make 'em like they used to.

Really would put in some injector cleaner, new engine oil & filter, flush and fill coolant, new brake fluid and power steering fluid. Check air filter, clean air box.
I'd say you got lucky.

Up next...
Flush cooling system and check for leaks.
New thermostat, gasket, all coolant and heater hoses, water pump and gasket. Recharge cooling system.
New clutch master and slave cylinders.
New master cylinder, complete brake overhaul and flexible brake hoses.
The fuse block has been damaged. Rewire new fuse block.
I drained the fuel tank and blew out all the fuel lines. The sedimenter has the drain plug broken off inside the housing. I'll drill it out and try to use a radiator pit **** wing nut in there.
New tires.
Repaint.
Stay tuned for NAPA part numbers and updates.
