hey everyone im new to this site..

i have a 1986 ford courier with a mazda bravo front. it currently has a carby and i hate it.
ive been told that a 2.6L G6 engine is the way to go. they're reliable and a bit more powerful than a carby.
i'd like to know if anyone has done this or know of anyone who has ? and would it drop straight in to my bravo and just bolt up ? same engine mounts etc... i know i'd have to get a computer and so on.. not worried about that but i need to know if this has been done and how'd it go ??

not sure on the swap with yours.the carbed engine,is it a mitsubishi engine?
the bravo's european/australian?

i did a swap for a frame, my 91 to 88 and the only difference for me was the engine mounts on the frame.91 had the g6 and the 88 was the mitsu.

i would have no idea if the engine is a mitsubishi lol...

but my mechanic said that the G6 engine should drop straigt in if the engine mounts are the same. i just need something more reliable than a carby, and i'd like fuel injected also, so i thought the G6 would be the way to go..

 

i guess i got lucky with my frame swap.the only difference was the engine mounts.
mitsu had square mounts and they were farther forward.
i had a grinder to cut my g6 mounts off my old frame.cut closer to the frame than the mounts and clean up after they're off the frame.

just check the trans and mounting for it. if the frame looks the same,you'll be off to a good start.

if it looks good. all i did for my mounts was bolted(couple of bolts) to the engine and trans and lowered in to position and marked the engine mount and tacked in place pulled the engine back out. finished the welding. continued the install and rewired.
