1991 B2200 Automatic Shift Button from Park has Problem
1991 B2200 Automatic Shift Button from Park has Problem
I have a 1991 B2200 pickup with 282,900 miles on it, Automatic Trans. Floor Shift. On the Top left side of the Shifter is a Button you have to push in with your Right thumb, to get it out of Park. I have trouble getting the button to push in and have to keep pushing it many times and jiggle the shifter, before it releases to get out of Park. I'm sure someone else has had the same problem and maybe has found the Solution. I would appreciate some heip if you know and have solved the problem. Thank You, very much. It's been a while since I've been on the Mazda Site, so I hope I got it Right. Automatic Transmission Shifter with Top push button to take it out of Park, Lower button for In and Out of Overdrive.
That SMALL button on the shifter handle is only to turn the Overdrive ON and OFF. The LARGE button releases the shifter from PARK. When it won't......do this as I have outlined below:
You need to look down lower on your shifter base and there is a small square plastic cover that you can pop off and then reach into that small opening and pull a small RED lever that will allow you to release your shifter from the PARK setting.
You can see this, right below my steering wheel, in the picture below.....
