So i have an 89 b2200 5spd. I'm having issues with it driving, it starts up just fine, but runs a little rough and i know what it is. but the problem i'm having is that when i go to drive it, it moves but doesn't move very much. like something is preventing it from getting all the power to the wheels. Any ideas or suggestions would be amazing.

 

1. First thing for me would be to change the fuel filter, should be under the air cleaner, passenger side, near the mechanical fuel pump.

2. Also: have you ever changed out the filter sock inside the fuel tank?

3. And does your truck still have the sucky, complicated factory carburetor or an aftermarket Weber?

 

Changed fuel filter out already. Tank is fairly new, and it has the aftermarket Weber. It's not starving of fuel or anything. It just barely will move.

 

Does the engine rpm go up but the truck does not move correspondingly? If so, that would most likely be clutch slippage.

 

Yeah that's pretty much what happens, was just gunna replace the clutch and throw out bearing this weekend and see if that fixed anything.

 

A complete clutch kit should also include a little bearing for the crankshaft end too (and a new pressure plate in case you were thinking of just throwing in a new disc, which I do not recommend in a case of slippage (would do that only as a "replace while accessible" plan). And maybe consider getting the flywheel machined/resurfaced since there's been slippage.
