Default Weak Spark Wont Start:

1986 2.0L FI. Vehicle has been setting about 8 years. Fuel pump was not operating, replaced the fuel pump and filter. Compression is OK. Will not start due to weak spark.

Installed new ignition coil, pickup coil, cap, rotor, high tension wires and spark plugs. Spark is still very weak. Disconnected the noise suppressor at the distributor. Still no start.

Also I noticed while changing the fuel pump that it has a fuel return hose to the tank. Not familiar with this system. Where does the fuel return to the tank come from?

I don't at this point have a repair manual for the vehicle.

Any idea what I'm overlooking?

Thanks in advance!

Have you replaced the battery? Get a new battery, make sure the battery is fully charged.

Hey Gimme3Doors... thanks for the reply, it's not the battery.
