Default Replacing 2001 626 Fuel Filter

Any advice of replacing the fuel filter of a 2001 626? It seems to be in a very rough spot to operate.

I have the same car. I am actually changing my filter in a couple of days when I get back from my holiday vacation. You will need to remove the small black box with the silver plate on top of it that sits directly above the filter. It looks like its only held in place by two bolts so it should come out pretty easy. I found some instructions on how to do it on ehow.com so if you search for hoe to change fuel filter mazda 626 it should come up in a google search. Just remember to release the pressure from the fuel lines before you unhook them to be safe.

Thank you. I found the same article from eHow, but was a bit off due to the model year. I did find the same experience as you described, that the silver plate box is sitting on top of the filter. Once it is remove (actually just flip it without disconnect the wiring harness), the filter is rather accessible, by removing the two nuts holding the bracket and two clamps holding the in and out gas hose.

Thank you again,
