Mazda 323,Mazda 626 & Mazda 929Whether the compact 323, the mid sized 626, or the full sized 929, these vehicles remain very popular even though production has stopped.
I need a new 1/2 shift fork to the 5-speed transmission of a european 1986 929 2.0i HB Coupe. Many cars of that era used (more or less) the same FE engine and 5-speed transmission, like
626 RWD, 929, B2000/B2200, Bronco, Cosmo, RX-7, and others. But there are lots of differenses and small variations.
The japanese Cosmo is almost identical to my 929, except the Cosmo is RHD, they drive on the wrong side of the road over there....
Problem is I cant find the part number for this fork. My car is not in any of the EPCs, they start with the HC platform. My car's partlist exsist only on microfilm / microfiche. Talked to
several workshops, but they've thrown that microfiche stuff long time ago. Online EPC here: Partsouq EPC
I took a chance and orderd a M503-17-402, but it was too large to fit. Then orderd a G401-17-402C I think it was, but got another M503-17-402 !
Now the question is: Do any of you guys have one of these transmissions in bits, so you are able to take measurements of the 1/2 fork ?
No need to remove the fork, indirect measurements can be taken of the shift rod and the clutch hub sleeve groove and diameter.
Attached is a 3D model I made of my fork, with all the key dimensions. The wear/concact pads are shown 6.9mm 'unworn', mine are worn fully down into the fingers, and are only 4.5mm across.
