Default Mazda 626 Starting Problem

Have a 94 626 Automatic 6 cyl. Car is not in greatest condition but runs pretty good. Was running up Saturday. Son pulled it up in the driveway and turned it off. Car will not start. Starter does not appear to be engaging. Not turning over at all. Any idea where to start? Check battery and cables and all appear to be fine there. Any idea?

Thanks

I would start by seeing if there is 12v going to the starter solenoid when turning the key to start. The easiest way to check is with a test light on the starter and someone to turn the key. If no power then it needs to be traced back from there. Is there an alarm on this car?

Thanks and will check the solenoid.

Yes there is an alarm. According to the book the alarm is disengaged when you turn the key in the door.

I was referring to a possible aftermarket alarm.. I have seen them cause problems after it has been installed for many years.
