Default Limp mode

Like so many others, I had to replace the auto tranny in my 98 626. Found a tested one at the salvage yard, installed it, and I got the flashing O/D light, check engine light and the car went into limp mode immediately. Did I miss something, or is this typical? How do I get it back to normal? I will take it and have the codes checked later today. Any thoughts????

Default RE: Limp mode

I will answer my own question, in case someone has the same problem. The 10 pin connector on the top of the transmission has a tendency to retract into the transmission when you plug it in. Therefore, as in my case, the pins never made contact and the shift solenoids didn't know what to do. The result, limp mode. I used a small, sharp, ice pick to hold theconnector tight against the tranny and plugged the wiring harness in. Reset the computer and ..... evrything works great. If you're replacing a transmisiion WATCH OUT FOR THIS CONNECTION!
