How do I replace my 626?
Hi
I am currently driving my second 626 -- my first was a '93, and I am currently driving a '99.
I love the low driving position of my 1999 626 -- I have almost four fingers of headroom, and if I lean forward to look around a corner in a crowded parking lot, I don't hit my head on the roof.
But, a 1999 won't live forever, so I started looking for a replacement.
The Mazda6 roofline is lowered -- I don't fit well in it. So, I triedthe Altima, Accord, Camry, and Sonata -- all have the same problem. My 626 has a relatively flat roofline and skinny sun visors. The new cars have a curved roofline, and the peak is not over the driver, as you would expect, but somewhere behind him. I found myself sitting well forward of the peak -- and, when I tried to lean forward, I could only move about six inches before hitting my head on the ceiling bump housing the new fat sun visors. It is almost claustrophic.
Those of you who love the 626 for its low seating position and great headroom -- what are you doing about the 'next generation'? Have you found a car that makes you as happy? Or are you doing what I am thinking of doing -- sinking some money into my 1999, and seeing how long I can keep it running?
Thanks,
LongTallTexan
