Default help for a new member please

hi everyone my grandad has brought me his 2002 mazda 626 gxi to look at.
the problem started about 3 months ago with a rumbling noise from the front end while driving.
thought it was the wheel bearings but the car just passed an mot last week the noise gets louder the faster you go.
could this be a problem with the traction control?
i dont know my way about a mazda so any help will be really greatful
thanks for reading

it sounds exactly like the wheel bearings to me. the traction control doesn't normally make any noise when it goes out.

take the assembled hub off of one side of the front and see if the races are lined up with the case. if they are indented at all or have any side to side play, you need new bearings.
