Hey everyone,

Just bought a 2005 Smoke Grey Mazda 6S Hatchback with Bose/moonroof, black leather, cargo net, door edge guards, compass autodim mirror, MSRP: $US 28,740. I got it for $20,500, did I get a good deal? I've racked up 1,000 miles in 3 weeks!

Couple of issues:

1- Acceleration is slow at first (and slow reaction), have to let the car roll a bit, or give it a kickdown.
2- Car feels strange coasting between 30 and 40 MPH.

Otherwise, car really handles well, some road noise though... it really picks up if you hit the pedal after that, even at at 60 or 70 MPH...

I like the Manual shifter, makes it more fun to drive, but still trying to calibrate 1st and 2nd gears...

I also keep kicking off the fuse box cover!!!!!

Otherwise no other issues. Have any of you heard of any recalls or fixes for 05's?

Yes you got a good deal.

1: what speed are you launching the car at if it is to low the car will naturally bog of the line.

2: what does strange consist of?

road noise is probably from your tires, check your air pressure they might be low. if the air pressure is fine try rotating front to back if that doesnt work go to your local dealer and have them look at it under warranty.

fuse cover may just be bad they are prone to becoming loose but your foot may just be to big try trimming your foot a little and see if that helps any

It just seems that I have to really calibrate how much pressure I apply when I accelerate... a lot of modulation up to 40 mph. Not really a complaint, but I am more self conscience when driving this car.

Tire pressure is fine; I guess it's the insulation... or the 17" tires.

The fuse box cover is just lousy... and my foot needs trimming....

The fuse cover you should be able to get a new one from your dealership that you bought the car at, we have had a couple like yours put new one on and havent had the same issue.

Road noise could very well be the cunstruction material they used on the roads you drive on. I'm not making an excuse for your Mazda dealer just saying in my area on the same tires I dont remember having any of my customers complaining of excesive road noise.

As far as the feels strange coasting it might just be your trans. searching for a gear because 30-40 is 2nd gear under normal accell. so it might just be trying to figure out a gear to downshift to.
