Default Heating fan wiring in 626 -89

I'm having problems with the heating fan in my 626 from -89. Fan motor is ok (tried to hook it to another battery), switch is changed and works fine. Resistor doesn't seem to be the problem, short-circuted it and got the same result. When the fan is not connected I get full power on my multi-meter, then i connect the fan and nothing happens. After disconnecting the fan i get just a few volts on the meter. Strange??
Also, the circut seems backwards since the switch is put after fan motor. Has anyone seen this, or have ideas or the wiring for this car so I can try to locate the problem?
