Bad ECU? Cause overheat?
Hi,
Was wondering if anyone could tell how I could tell if I need to replace my ECU in my 98 626lx 2.0.
If it is faulty, is it possible that it could not communicate certain things to the car or would it just stop communicating everything entirely? Is it an all or nothing situation?
I had a couple of things happen at the exact same moment that I believe have nothing to do with each other. Overheated, fans likely not running at time, I do not hear fuel pump sound when I turn the key. Fuel not getting to engine.
Currently, I am able to start the car. It cranks but will not fire up. The pulley all turn normally, etc. I have complete battery power as the a/c, lights, radio, etc. still turn on.
Overheated & shut itself off while driving on highway. Never started again. Replaced thermo, spark plugs, ignition coil, fuel filter, fuel pump.
Head gasket seems unlikely as the oil is not milky or frothy.
I'm at a complete loss here.
I'd appreciate any suggestions from those who know better.
Thank you.
