Default 94 626 WON'T START STRANDED WITH NO WAY TO WORK PLEASE HELP!

My car was running fine on tuesday, we got a snow storm here (wed) and i let it sit one day(wed) without starting it and now it wont start! Don't know if that has anything to do with it, and it does not seem to be the battery, its cranking, and i have all power. also i bought the battery new in november 2006. The car is cranking and every so often it sounds like a crank and a skipped crank or a double crank and it almost feels like it is going to start for a split second but it doesn't. And the cranking seems to be speeding up and slowing down or I could just be wearing down the battery trying to start it. I also thought I heard a strange sound underneath the car when i was trying to start it when it first would not start, possibly coming from a fuel line? sounded like air moving. i could be wrong though.

can anybody help me out, i am totally screwed right now , i use the car to work.

find your starter and tap with a hammer a few times see if that works nto hard enought to dent it just hard enough that it knows your there.if that does no good then you may have a fuel pump gone bad or bad fuses/relays. did you open the hood after trying to crank for a while anddid you smell gas? check your fuses and relays first and then work backward from there.

Might have a timing belt jumping time if the cranking speed is fluctuating quite a bit. Should check for good fuel flow to the injector rail and ignition spark though first to see if both are ok.

hey thanks so much for getting right back, as always your opinion really means some. when you said about the timing belt, do you actually think it may have gone. i have had plenty of timing belts go on me with other types of cars though, and for a split second i thought it was making that fast cranking sound like the timing went but then it entirely slowed down. Anything you might be able to add will help, I will be messing with this on sunday morn, the first available time I have to do so. I will try what you said about the fuel to the injectors. Someone else replied to my post as well and mentioned to check relays but did not specify which ones to check, do you know what relays would make the car not start and where they would be on the car?

thanks again
I hope in the future i could provide some info that would be helpful for you, since your always helping everyone, it is definitly most appreciated here!

hello thanks for your reply, and quick response. I will try what you said about the starter, but I heard starters go before and this sounds nothing like that sound, but I could be wrong maybe its different with this car for some reason. also could you specify which relays you were talking about and where to find them. I will be making these attempts on sunday morn, my first available time to get back to working at getting the car moving again.

thanks again, any help with this type of info will be great, I have very little money to fix the car.

just a vague statement on my part. check the fuses in the box inside the car and makesure the relays are all plugged intight under the hood. they should all be labeled inside the boxes as to which go where. if you smelled gas then you may not be getting spark if you didn't smell gas then you may not be getting fuel. gotta have both to get ignition

HEY MAN,

I had the same problem with my 1993 626... and it turned out to be the distributor.. so check if u are getting any spark to the spark plugs, if not! work ur way back from there

my problem was no spark to spark plugs then we went to check distributor, no spark coming out of there but it was getting current from the crank sensor.. so i had to replace the distributor

hey edgitar,

thanks alot for your input, i am trying something right now that babyhuey recommended, with my purge valve.
at first i thought it was the plugs being saturated with oil from my valve cover gasket leak(but i changed them twice and the wires, still the same), i also have a clogged gas tank that i noticed that every time i would refuel after is when i would have the trouble restarting the car. i am not sure though, right now i am running out the current tank of gas, so i can get back to square one of the no starting problem to try some trouble shooting advice i got from another post.

but when you say distributer do you mean cap and rotor or the actual distributer? also did you have no start at all, or start and then sometimes not starting? and when you were cranking did it make and odd cranking sound kinda high pitched? just curious. if you have time to write back, if not don't stress on it cause i am doing enough of that for ten men.

thanks
and all the best of luck to you always
