94 626 wont start
my 94' 626 wont start. i think it has to do with my clutch. wen i depress the clutch pedal, the pedal doesnt come all the way back up. and it also stalls every time rpm gets too low (yes, with my foot on the clutch). my uncle gave it to me for free because he used degreaser on the motor but i guess he hosed the whole engine bay down. he said i could have it for free, so i'm tryin to fix it up. i used fuel system cleaner, and it helped a bit, and all taht but the motor still has no power. sounds like a freakin go kart.. lol.. any suggestions? these are my main two problems: clutch and ignition problem? and engine with no power due to false use of degreaser and water in engine bay. i would greatly appreciate any help!! thank you in advance!
lol.. no one answered... well.. i was out of town for two weeks and i came bak.. and for kicks and grins i tried to fired it up.. well it started.... cept i cant get into any gear... my clutch pedal is extra light... once it goes down.. still doesnt wanna come bak up... its like... jumpin on a trampoline with no springs... goes down and not back up.. lol.. and i cant get into any gear.. im stuck in neutral... i even tried forcin it in... no luck... wat cud it be?? i just want it to be driveable first... then i'll go bak and fix the other problems... how do i get into gear? do i need a new clutch? please help mazda ppl! its my first mazda.. lol thanks so much! and i searched and searched and searched all that i cud.... and the degreaser thing.. the only thing i came up with is use fuel injector cleaner... dry out air box and electrical units.. and check the distributor cap... and i've done most of these.. wen i have time next week i'll try more.. but is there any other ways to get it not to stall in idle? if there is please help! im so desparate.. =/... thanks..
It would sound like a possible clutch master or slave cylinder for the no pedal problem. It seems as if it could be related to the idling problem because the clutch is not fully disengaging at idle. The clutch system is hydraulic.
Also do you know if the car was running good before the degreasing?
Also do you know if the car was running good before the degreasing?
car was fine before the degreaser was used... it did have lil tranny trouble i heard but iono wat that was about.. but wen the keys were handed over he said that all was fixed and was good before the degreasin... so iono... the idlin problem shouldnt relate to the clutch i think.. cuz i didnt have that problem b4... the engine just kept shuttin off at idle.. so maybe an electrical problem for that? and the tranny i had trouble with later.. so i dont think its the clutch thats causin the problem.. mite be.. iono.. thats y i asked u mazda experts! lol.. thanks again!
It does not sound like the clutch is the problem...it's the hydraulic system that disengages it when pushing the pedal. Sounds like it has an internal seal leak that is allowing pressure to escape.
internal seal leak? that doesnt mean the leak is visible outside right or was that a noob question? lol.. im no car mechanic.. especially on a mazda! thanks much bkey71! i'll get that checked out... i'll check out the things that u said! and oh.. how much wud it be to get that repaired? not a bunch hopefully? can i do the repair myself or is it heavy duty work? where do i start to look? and since i cant get into gear.. i guess i'd hve to tow it to teh shop or sumthin?? will a mazda dealership overcharge like crazy? cuz i have a honda and they charged me 160 bucks to refill my r134.. lol.. anyways thats a completely different story! thanks again! ur a life saver!
this is probably the most noobish question u guys ever encounter... but um... is the master cylinder for the tranny the same for the brakes? i went to my local tranny shop and the mechanic told me that if there is no visible leak then its the master cylinder... so if its the master cylinder.. do i have to get it replaced? if i do where do i get the part? is it a simple job i can do myself? how much will it cost me? lol.. sry for all these questions but i kno that no one knows mazda better than u guys.. i can take up to three days off work to work on the car... i personally dont want to take it to a shop cuz towin expenses... since i cant get into gear.. if i do replace the master cylinder, do i have to bleed the brakes and all that if its the same thing? thnx for everythin.. and sry for all these stupid questions.. lol..
The master cyl for the trans is a seperate unit. Just look where the clutch pedal hooks up at the top and it goes throught he firewall. If you are not very experienced with working on cars, I would have a shop do it. BTW it does not have to be a visible leak for there to be a problem. An internal leak means a seal is not holding pressure and allowing fluid to go by it.
