Default 929 AWD V6 automatic

I found this at the picknpull and its all still together, I have a 92 626 DX model and have done lots of suspension mods plus much more, can i put this awd into my 626 fwd, i could get the engne too but i wonder if they actually made a manual trans for the 929? I have an MX6 GT that i just finished buying for 825.00 and got it up running and its a beast now... Im new here so any comments or ideas would sure be helpful guys and if you need parts or something let me know I may be able to source some. Thanx all....

I've never heard of an awd 929, but Mazda did make a few awd models in Japan, so who knows. The only state-side awd i'm aware of is the 323 GTX. It'd be sweet though! I never heard of a manual 929 either. I think they were all automatics.
I don't think much would swap from a 929 to a 626 without mods, possibly extensive mods. They were built on different chassis. (929 doesn't have much trunk space, surprisingly)
Cool deal on the MX6 GT. Let's keep these old Mazdas on the road!

The 88-91 929 came with a 5spd manual, but only with the 12v V6 engine, not with the 18v, and its very rare. The 929 sohc v6 manual transmission bolts up to the 929 S making it a nice candidate for a manual swap. It is actually from Japan because i got the vin number off of it and decoded it today... lol

That's cool. Learned something new! It would be a good candidate if mtx can bolt up to both engines. However, still don't think much would swap to your 626.
I thought the newer 929 with DOHC was a 24v engine. Been too long since I saw my friend's 929's engine though. Just found out his friend totalled it too. what a shame

The JE 3.0 SOHC has 18 valves and the JE 3.0 DOHC has 24 valves. There were 200 1990 and 1991 929S (JE 3.0 DOHC) made in the US that came with a 5 speed manual. These were stronger units than the 5 speed manuals that came with the 87-90 929 (JE 3.0 SOHC). The SOHC 5 speed will completely mount to a DOHC but best to keep your gas pedal off the floor.

Which generation 929 are you referring too? My 1990 929S (HC) has a HUGE trunk.

I think it was a 93, maybe 94. Was my step-father's, till my friend bought it. Looked like the fuel tank was in the trunk. Was spacious at the tail end, but was like a step up going forward, beneath the back window. Ruled out space for 2 15's...

That would be a very rare transmission to find, but would be ideal.

Adding to one thing I mentioned before, I was incorrect, I believe there were some AWD Proteges as well.
