Default 323 Questions?

I have a 1992 323 1.6 L 5 speed manual 4cyl. I have new spark plug wires.

What I want to know is what kind of spark plugs do I need what gap do they need to be at?

Does my car have a distriputor? If I do do I need to replace the rotor and cap? I think I do but I am really at a lose when it comes to this I have no clue what to do when it come to the rotor and cap. I know I can figure it out if I had some help.

I think my car needs new shocks? Or springs? I don't know I would like to know what I would just need to get rplaced? I mean would I need to get new struts and springs? Or just new springs?

If I do need one or both what should I get?

This would really help me I am slowly turning my car into something fun but just gettting every thing in order first.

Also just throwing this out there. I would like to know what kind of muffiler or exhaust other people who have 323's have? I would like to know where to get a decent one at. I have never done this befor so I would like some info please.

Thanks.

The spark plugs you should get are either NGK or ND (brand name), these are the original type plugs for your car. They are gapped at .044"

You do have a dist cap and rotor. The cap is held on with two screws, and the rotor has one set screw to hold it on the shaft. Here are some pics.

If you need struts, there are several good brands such as Monroe or KYB. Usually the springs do not need replacing unless you want to lower or stiffen the suspension. I'm sure the struts need replacing anyways due to age and mileage. It would be best to have a shop do suspension if you have never done it.

Ok cool so I just need to go with some NGK or ND spark plugs and make sure they are gapped at .044"

Oh the Rotor and Cap I can just get that at autozone right? and all I have to do is just put it on?

I know and make sure its on the right way and make sure that each spark plug goes back the way it was.

Ok yeah I think its the rear sturts? Does the rear end have sturts? I was just going to take it some where but I wanted to know what I needed to get replaced.

Thanks for the pics too that really helps you have no idea!!!

I'm going to see if I can pull up the prices for a new cap and rotor.

Yes, you do have struts on all four wheels. DO NOT attempt if you have never done them. You can get seriously injured if you are not experienced with compreessing coil springs.

I would not buy a cap and rotor from Aotozone, not very good quality. The best thing to get is a Beck/Arnley part from somewhere like Parts America. These parts are usually repackaged OEM parts and are a lot better. You might spend about $5 more, but it's worth it!

Ok I wasn't really planing on trying to take off the sturts or the springs.

Parts America ok I'll look into it. I just said autozone because thats the only place close the I have bought stuff in befor.

Yeah if its a better part then a little more money's not going to hurt if it doesn't crap out like the autozone crap.

Cool Thanks Bkey71
