1993 626 stops running

93 626 4cyl. Auto runs fine then for no reason will shut off. Takes a minute or two then will start up and run fine. Can go a mile or twenty miles before it will happen again. The motor can be cold or at normal running temp. We replaced the fuel filters. It has good fuel pressure. Replaced the distributor that went out about 3 years ago. Had the injectors cleaned professionally. We gave a visual inspection of the wiring harness and it appears fine. Seems to be electrical. When it shuts off the tach goes to 0 while coasting and the motor is still turning over.

ECU?? Distributor??

Your ideas are greatly appreciated.

that the tach goes to zero while the motor is turning says it is an electrical problem?

Distributor 99% of the time.

Tach is not cable driven (nor is the speedometer). The tach is a pulse-counting tachometer which counts the frequency of ignition pulses to derive engine rpm. Hence, if no ignition, no rpms.
