Default 1991 626 question

I just got my first mazda. A '91 626 DX 5 speed. I pulled the CEL code and it's saying #8, which looks like it's the MAF according to the list of codes I've found. Anyway I'm confused as to what exactly I need to replace. There's a metal housing that bolts to my intake with the sensor in it. Does this whole thing get replaced or do you open it up and replace something inside or is there a way to clean it that I can try first? I was unsure because the housing is factory sealed with silicone or something and comes out as a whole unit, not a separate sensor. I have a couple pics for reference of what part I mean. It looks like that black piece on the top could possibly be removed but it's siliconed in and the same thing with the metal cover on the bottom, both are factory sealed. I didn't want to just tear it open before I found out for sure. Any clues in the right direction would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Look through the barrel you should see 1 or 2 tiny wires. Spray some MAF sensor cleaner on it and see if that fixes the problem. Of course if I were in the parts business I would safe you that step....

Thanks alot guys that answered my question perfectly. I'll try a can of MAF cleaner, if not I'll just shell out the $$ for a new one.
