Default 1989 626, good car?

a few years ago I wanted a 626, I really liked the cars. I was looking at late 90s models. settled for a Toyota Corolla instead, hated that stupid thing. I now own a 2007 Mustang, a very nice 69 F100, a decent 94 F150, but none get over 26 mpg, and my nice little stang is litterally getting drove to death with me going 37 milesone way to work. its a very comfortable car, but too expensive to wear out running to and from work. So I decided to look for an older better mpg car to drive to work.........

since cheap and mpg are the focus im looking at older cars. I found a 1989 Mazda 626 for $1500, 95,000 miles, 2 owners, pretty good shape, claimed 32mpg.

Opinions on these cars? any issues? its the 2.2 with a 4-speed auto. needs to be able to handle 1200-1600 miles a month.
