Questions about converting a 1989 626 to Ram-air.
I have finally made up my mind to turn my '89 626 Turbo into a Ram-air intake. I want to mount a single hood scoop and run the ram-air system through it. The problem that I am stuck on is actually running the "duck work" to the intake. I do have the stock inter-cooler. (If that is needed info.)
I want this to look decently "professional" looking if possible for the lower price. The stock air box is located on the driver side of the engine bay. Would I honestly be better off just putting the scoop directly over the box? I just don't want to do that honestly...
The only thing that I can come up with is to mount the scoop in the center of the hood and run the duct under it. Putting to rubber gaskets of some sort there to create a seal when the hood is closed. I just don't know how to mount the ductwork in place there so it won't move all over the place...
If mounted like that, should the duct go into a hole cut into the stock air box? Or would I be better off making a custom box? Or would it be better to mount a custom airbox directly under the scoop position? Also, where exactly should the duct connect to as far as the manifold/intercooler is concerned?
