The first thing to check is the battery. Clean the terminal posts and clamps, make nice and tight. Now might be a good time to invest in a battery charger that can test for bad batteries. If the battery is 7+ years old, get a new one.
A quick test of the ignition switch can be made by looking for 12 volts DC at the positive side of the ignition coil with the switch in the on (IG) position. There's a wire with connector sticking out of the harness right at the coil to make such a test. You will need a meter, positive lead goes to wire, the negative goes to negative terminal of battery or use the engine. If you don't see 12VDC the main fuse could also have burned out, but doubtful.
