smoking EGR tube
i've a 1995 miata with a smoke leak. about 3 min after i start the car up a trickle of white smoke starts leaking from the EGR tube to the exhaust manifold fitting area, it is accompanied by a loud clicking sound. i took off the egr tube at that fitting and applied a bead of high temp (400 degree) Thread Lock leak stopper. after tightening i let it sit 3 days and started it up, it leaked smoke and clicked some, but less. I turned it off to cool, checked it and started it up again, the clicking had ceased as had the smoking. today when i started it up it was clicking and leaking again, bummer. does all this suggest anything? what do i do next? do i take off the exhaust manifold and check it for a leak?do i replace the egr tube (only $70)? or what?
