Default Self-Install Remote Engine Start CX-5

I just bought a 2014 Mazda CX-5 Touring FWD on Monday. The dealer told me that it had to have the Technology package in order to have remote start installed. My research shows otherwise.

I have purchased the Main kit, wiring harness and hood switch to install this feature. I have found instructions for installation and it does not look like there are any special tools required.

Have any of you done this? Did you run into problems?
