Here I am approaching another summer with my trusty beater. 1993 Protege with about 280k miles, and it looks like every one of those miles were hard. I've been living with the radiator fan not working for about three years. I keep thinking I'm about to be done with this car, but I just keep on keeping on with it. About a year ago I did the jumper test that confirmed the fan spins, so I bought a new relay but that didn't fix it. A year later (Today) I tried that jumper test again and fan no spinny, so I disconnected the fan and ran 12VDC directly to it and it spins. I then did the current test, supposed to be 6.6 +/- 1, and it read 4.3. My fan motor seems out of spec, but is that enough for it to not work at all? I hate dumping even a penny into this car, and don't want to buy a fan motor unnecessarily. But at the same time I loath going another summer with the radiator fan not working. What do folks here think?
