Default New CX-9 User With Questions

I picked up my 2020 CX-9 in May. I like the ride, fuel economy, and the safety features. I am at a loss as to why the dashboard systems seem so arcane? When I first came onto his board I read that people with 2014 Mazda models were complaining that, for example, the radio presets had to be re-synced from scratch. The car does it automatically but it takes time. I would think that it would just do an update and sync new changes. My 2020 still does what the described 2014 model did So my question is, does anyone know why car companies do not look at what other companies are doing and improve THEIR models each year based on technological advances? My 2015 Highlander did update-sync and the radio stations and contacts where synced in seconds. My Mazda literally takes minutes. Looking for opinions as to why Mazda and other companies (I assume) don't "leap-frog" each other in features? Thanks
