Hi Folks,
I have been intently searching this forum and others for help on resetting the code on my 1998 Mazda 626, which I believe has a Miata radio is that correct?
The radio has only tape cassette no CD.
The sequence of button press's that give me the four dashs is:
Scan-AM/FM-Prog/AutoM-FF(seek up) as per the Miata webb site.
I then feed in 4989 and press Prog/Auto then Scan and hold both buttons down.
But I do not get the required "Good" message.
I have tried the code 1414 with the same result
Is there anyone out there that could help. as I begrudge the bloody ridiculas price quoted to me to do the work.
This is a Sydney Australia deliverd car

Just registered to say thank you as it worked so great!

The dealership wanted to charge me 200€ + VAT to send the radio to Mazda and unlock it or even replace it if we missed the code 3 times.
I told him there must be a factory code and he told me "If you think you know my job better than me, serve yourself"...

Followed the process and succeed to unlock the radio with the code 3511.

Then if you have a french Mazda RX-8 '04 231chv, try the code 3511.

Default 2000 626 in Australia

Hi,

Would just like to thank everyone for the info in this forum and share my experience which eventually worked for me.

I have a 2000 model Mazda 626 and am in Australia. I was having trouble getting into the coding mode as my model seemed to have different buttons and features to many. For example, it has a CD player AND cassette, and separate AM and FM1/2 buttons.

The procedure that worked for me:

1. Press the following buttons one by one in order:
Scan > FM1/2 > Auto M > Seek FF

2. Enter one of the codes in this forum, 4989 worked for mine.

3. Press Auto M + Scan together

4. The word good was displayed.

5. Ignition off and back on again and the unit now works.

Thanks again and hope this helps someone else.

hi Robbo,
I have a 1998 626 and live in Sydney.
I have tried the above and it does not work for me
The setting up of the code number works but <auto M> plus <scan>
just reverts back to the ERROR message.
I have tried a number of codes sugested in this thread but none of them seem to work for my car.
anyone one have any other codes that may be valid????

There should be a 2 inch white sticker on the inside of your glovebox with the 4 digit code.

That would kinda' defeat the purpose of a "security" code, wouldn't it?
