Default Major scratch on car! Ideas for repair please!

I went to the OK State Fair tonight (over 100,000+ in attendance)...and when I returned to the parking lot there was a HUGE scratch on the passenger side of my car...from the front to the bumper!! What is the cheapest way to fix this? I have a 2008 Mazda 3 hatchback..the color is Metallic Black. It's just one scratch, but it's the whole length of the car. Since my car is black, it stands out really bad. I'm open to any suggestions. I work on cars a lot...so any DIY ideas are welcome, too!

You could try the Simoniz Fix-It. Google it. You mighta seen the commercials with Billy Mays. But honestly, I think it's for smaller scratches.

There is a wax that comes with a crayon looking pen for deep scratchs which will make it look better from a distance but black shows scratchs easily and the only way to truly fix it is to paint each panel so basicly the entire side of the car. I think i got it at Oreilly.

I know around here we have a touch up service that does a pretty good job, but I do know on my buddies F-150 he had to have the whole side painted.

OUCH!! Yeah, that would hurt, especially on black.
Have you tried any of those so called scratch fixers in a bottle? I haven't myself but have wondered how they are supposed to work.
Do they soften the paint around the area so that it flows into the low point of the scratch? I wonder?

Please do not cross-post the same thing in different areas of the forum.

Default estimate from body shop...

-6 days to repair
-remove all passenger side body panels
-sand down and re-spray
-$1238!!
-any ideas??

Does this sound like a fair estimate?
I tried the auto-part scratch repair DIY kit with NO results. I guess black paint has it's costs.....

Wow...is supporting a state by going to their state fair worth risking your car...I vote no!

car insurance? on a 08? what is your comprehensive deductible? vandalism is covered under comprehensive. happened to me. nasty scratch on new car except it was only one 1 door. repaint equaled my deductible. don't let your insurance man yank your chain. i dropped my sisters new camera. found out my home insurance pays if i damage someones elses property and it has no deductible in that instance. the internet is good for finding things out.
