Default Madza 3 CD Player gone

Can anyone help me with this problem. 2006 Mazda 3. The CD Player has suddenly decided that it doesn't exist anymore. Its on radio and pressing the cd button does nothing. Pressing mode on the steering wheel changes between fm and am but no cd. I have cds in the player which i'm not able to get out. Asked the dealer about it at the last service just recently and they said there was nothing they could do about it because they don't make the audio unit, just buy it from someone else. Any help is appreciated.

If you have used copied c.d's they can cause the system to lock up as they are a different thickness to normal c.d's.
You can open the unit up and extract the c.d's but be carefull as in some cases the internal mechanism springs can shoot off and then you are in trouble. If your not technically minded take the unit to an audio repair specialist. Sorry but there is no other fix than extracting the c.d's , it should work fine once they have been removed. Good Luck.

I have tried to get to the CDs but I can't figure out how to pull the thing apart. Have you seen any instructions on how to do this? - I can't even see any screws to begin with!
