knocking on my 323f 97 from the rear
I had an advisory on my mot stating one of my rear shocks was slightly misting oil, over the last few weeks there has been a rattling noise if i go over the slightest bumps, today i drove my car over a speed hump and there was a big bang, could this indicate my shock has gone? although there is no continuous bouncing its left me a bit confused on what it could be? sorry to be so vague (women after all lol) any advise would be appreciated!
hi, not so sure if this could be your problem... but to confirm drive on a very potholed road, if you hear something like a huge thing bouncing around in your trunk.. could be you have the same problem i had.
i own a 1988 mazda 323 hatch, and was stumped with this loud noise whenever i went on bad roads (bad roads are common in my area, extreme potholes)
anyways my mechanic and i checked the shocks etc etc.. all appeared fine, then after like weeks he finally got it. my model's rear sway arm rods.. the ones that adjust camber were the issue.
its like a 1 foot 6 inch rod, with one of the end bolts having a flower type washer, its this set of nuts that are used to adjust camber.. apparently the wheels or something insider were shot.. replacements can cost a pretty penny, so we just did a mod on a normal ford lazer rod and replaced the arms.. hope this helps.. good luck
