This has been driving me nuts as long as I’ve owned my 2015 CX-5, so I thought I’d share my resolution in this forum. I don’t typically post a lot and rarely are my posts insightful. I guess it’s never too late to start, so here we go.

Since I first connected my iPhone 4s via Bluetooth, I’ve been unable to shuffle my music consistently using the native music player. More often than not it would eventually start playing music alphabetically. It didn’t seem to matter if the iOS version was 6, 7 or 8. The results were always the same.

When I upgraded to the iPhone 6s I hoped I would have better luck with a newer iOS and a revamped music player. Wishful thinking, because the results were the same. In fact, not one time has the phone not played music in alphabetical order.

Finally, I have a resolution! ‘Beat – Music player’ by Monkey Bits. I’m not affiliated with this app in any way. I’m just a guy recommending an app that will access your music on your iPhone/iPod and allow you to shuffle your music.

The Beat Music Player seems pretty intuitive. You can customize it to see only the screens that you want to see. I configured mine to only see ‘Songs’, but apparently you can create Playlists and do other customizations. Assuming that you set yours up like mine and you only see the ‘Songs’ screen, select a song to play. In the upper right hand corner is the shuffle icon (two arrows crossing paths). Once selected, any music played from that point forward will be entirely random. And if you’re bored with the random song that comes on you can swipe right to left and it will play the next random song.

As I said I have an iPhone 6s running iOS9. Whether it will work with your iOS device you’ll need to figure out on your own. I do wish you the best of luck!
