Default Compression on 97 626

I just did a compression check on a 97 626 2.0 standard and all cylinders were right at 108. At least they are all about the same but this seems low to me so I am wondering if the gauge i have is accurate or not. I did the test with all spark plugs removed and did not put any oil in the cylinders first.
Is this the correct way to check the compression or is there a better way?

Thanks for the help, Kerwin

Default RE: Compression on 97 626

The minimum spec for compression is 119 while average is 171 psi. A "dry" test is doing exactly what you did. A "wet" test is when you put a few squirts of engine oil in each cylinder and retest. If the pressure comes up quickly with the oil, it means you have ring problems, if not, it usually indicates valve problems.

I would also consider trying another compression tester for a second opinion.
