99 protege transmission swap
I have a 99 protege es 1.8l with a bad auto tranny , My question is will a 1.6l tranny be a direct swap if it can be done at all. Thanks in advance.

'Hate to leave you hanging, but there is not a lot of call for this kind of question.
The short answer is no. I "believe" the engine blocks from the two are different and they will not mate properly w/o a custom made adapter. Better off finding a manual from a 1.8 or 2.0L car. As far as I know they should be interchangeable.
