i have a 95 626 4 cylinder it has 287,xxx miles i recently had to replace the distributor due to corrosion. i replaced it with a used one from a junk yard due to availability. Ran fine for a few thousand miles then occasionally when cold it would develop a surging idle.recently started the car to go to work everythning ran like a mazda should, stopped at seven eleven to get a cup of coffee, i left the motor running. When i came back out and as soon as i sat down the motor died as ifi had turned off the switch. The motor still turns over but there is no fire what so ever. I replaced the eng. main relay hoping it would be simple and cheap but no such luck. Just don't know what i want to replace next. Any help?

 

I'm guessing that the salvage distributor was in good conditon. How are the spark plugs and igniton wires?

 

just had recent tune up. I got the car from my girlfriends dad who is very meticulous with his maintenance. My best guess is that my used distributor is the culprit I'm just hoping someone smarter than me. Could maybe be more certain than i am, before i go spend the money.
