2010 CX-9 Nav system "cannot read program"
I have a 2010 Mazda CX-9.
My Nav/Entertainment system was "clicking" (appeared to be having trouble reading the DVD) and Nav was not working.
Other functions were working (e.g., Touch-screen radio controls, back-up camera, etc.)
Based advice found on the internet, I attempted to clear the Nav system issue by disconnecting the battery. Now, the Nav/entertainment system is displaying this error message: "A Program Cannot Be Read . Please Consult to a dealer" (radio works but screen is displaying error message - so, obviously no touch screen controls, no back-up camera, etc.) Also - when I try to insert the DVD (I'm assuming the program it wants is on the DVD), it clicks a few times and spits the disk back out.
Notes:
The Nav DVD is fairly scratched. I tried it in two PCs - and one PC could not read it (the 2nd PC could read it).
In the PC that could read it, I made a copy and tried that in the Nav system - but got the same result (clicks a few times and spits the disk back out)
So - here are my questions:Any guess on the likelihood that buying a replacement DVD will resolve the issue (I'm guessing not, since the copy didn't work - but perhaps there is a disk formatting issue in the copy I made)?
Is there any other way (other than the DVD) to get the Entertainment system back up and running (If I can live without Nav)?I see various "replacement units" on the internet - and the job of swapping out doesn't seem that difficult - but I'm wondering if the models are really "plug-and play" - or if I'll have other issues with a replacement (considering that it integrates with back-up camera, etc.).
Thanks for your help!
